Authentic Japanese pan fried teriyaki salmon is made with fresh salmon fillets coated in a sweet and sticky homemade teriyaki glaze. This versatile dish is quick and easy to make, and goes perfectly with rice and sautéed vegetables!
what you'll need:
» salmon fillets (skin-on)
» potato starch
» soy sauce
» sesame seeds
» chopped spring onion
Mix the sauce
Mix the soy sauce, sake, mirin and sugar in a bowl until the sugar has dissolved.
Dry the salmon
Dry the surface of the salmon with kitchen paper and sprinkle both sides with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Coat the fillets with a thin layer of potato starch on both sides and brush off the excess.
Heat a frying pan on medium and add a drizzle of oil. Once hot, place the salmon with the skin side down and fry for 4 minutes.
Once the skin has browned and crisped up, flip and fry on the other side for 2 minutes.
Pour the teriyaki sauce into the pan and spoon it over the salmon skin continuously for a few minutes until thickened.
Plate up the salmon and pour any leftover sauce from the pan over the top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped spring onion. Enjoy!
