INGREDIENTS

Cut

Thinly slice the boiled bamboo shoots and cut them into pieces about 1x3cm in size (approx ¾" by 1 ¾ inches).

STEP 1

Fry

Heat a pan on medium and add sesame oil. Once hot, add the bamboo shoots and sprinkle with black pepper and dry chili. Fry for 1 minute.

STEP 2

Simmer

Add water, soy sauce, sake, mirin, oyster sauce and Chinese chicken bouillon powder. Mix well and simmer uncovered until the liquid is completely gone.

STEP 3

Finish

Turn off the heat and mix in another drizzle of sesame oil.

STEP 4

Cool

Transfer to a heatproof container with lid. Cool, then cover and chill in the refrigerator until use. (You can also eat them hot if preferred).
