Teriyaki is a versatile method of cooking meat or fish in a sweet soy sauce glaze. This delicious recipe uses skin-on chicken thigh to add extra texture and flavour to the dish, and it's quick to make so perfect for a mid-week dinner!
What is "teriyaki"?
Teriyaki（照り焼き）is a way of cooking using a soy sauce based sauce, so technically, "teriyaki sauce" and "teriyaki" itself are different things.
Teri（照り）means gloss and because of the sugar in the sauce, it will be glossy.
Teriyaki sauce is often used for chicken and fish (yellowtail is commonly used in Japan) but of course you can use the technique for pretty much anything!
Teriyaki Sauce is Simple to Make
This recipe is extremely tasty, yet quick and easy so I repeatedly make it at home, in fact it's one of the best home recipes I've got.
The ingredients used in Teriyaki sauce are simply soy sauce, sake, sugar and mirin. That's it! Only four ingredients which are very accessible, you can find them in most local supermarkets worldwide! (Important!)
Why don't you make this beautiful crispy and glossy teriyaki chicken for dinner? If you like chicken and crispy food, it will never disappoint you for sure!

Teri (照り) means gloss and Yaki (焼き) means frying/cooking.
Teriyaki sauce contains soy sauce, but soy sauce on it's own won't be close to tasting like teriyaki.
If you mean soy sauce, sake or/and mirin, sugar combo, chicken and particular fish such as Yellowtail are the most popular options.
