Brownies with a Japanese Twist
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a good brownie!
Although I love baking classics, it’s always fun to experiment with recipes that I love and give them a Japanese twist. So today, I want to share a recipe for these rich and fudgy Dark Chocolate and Matcha Brownies!
Using Dark Chocolate
In our last baking post featuring chocolate, the recipe for matcha and white chocolate muffins, I told you that white chocolate and matcha is a perfect combo.
Whilst that’s true, I really don’t believe you can make the perfect brownies without proper chocolate! Not only that, but matcha goes well with any chocolate really.
I did actually try making them with white chocolate instead, they were verrrrrrrrrrry sweet, a bit too sweet for me!
It took quite a few tries to get the balance of the matcha right (and a freezer full of semi-failed brownies to eat) but in the end, I took out the cocoa powder completely and used matcha powder instead. Who new it was that simple?!
Rich, decadent and fudgy brownies, with a rich matcha taste. Delicious!
And if you want to add some crunchy texture, these would be great with nuts too.
For this recipe, you will need a square baking tin. I used 18x18cm size. (Results may differ depending on the size of tin you use. If you use a different size, read the notes at the end of the recipe. )
